Braveheart made everybody want to put a big pre-battle speech in their movie. Yes, I'm pointing the bony finger of accusation squarely at YOU, Braveheart!
But that said...Braveheart had one of the good ones. I also liked 300's because it's so short and to-the-point.

Surprisingly, a young, untutored Arnold Schwarzenegger did one of the best (although Basil Pouledaris' score does the heavy lifting for him): www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5K3AKl5qpc (that said, the best Conan pre-battle speech is from the comics: "Come, my friend, and let us wallow in the gore".)

I feel like there could be a whole thread just about Lord of the Rings before-big-battle speeches that don't suck...My favorite is Aragon's "it is not this day!" speech before the Black Gate. The silly grandiosity only works because of the utter futility of their mission, I think... www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXGUNvIFTQw

Does Henry V count?

If we can include Schwarzenegger, we can include Shakespeare. (both are equally difficult for the uninitiated to understand)

And there's such a great rendition of the speech in question in Tombstone!
